Basketball Officials Memo 10/29/07

To:  CFOA Membership

From:  Kim Fessler, Basketball Assignment Officer

The season starts on Tuesday, November 6th with all the girls' Tip Off Classics.  The girls start a week earlier than the boys.

Schedules from November 6th thru November 21st will be published by October 31st  on TheArbiter.net.  If you any administrative issues with the FHSAA or CFOA, please resolve them as soon as possible otherwise you will not receive any assignments.  The Arbiter will not allow an assignment if you have not paid dues with the CFOA or registered with the FHSAA.

We are going to use the Arbiter.net for scratch dates.  Please keep it updated frequently.  If you can not do an assignment, update the Arbiter.net AND send an e-mail to cfoabballassigner@embarqmail.com.  There are only 2 ways a game can be scratched, via telephone or email.  Cfoabballassigner@embarqmail.com is the only email address used f! or correspondence.  Please to respond to email received from the Arbiter.  The office phone number is 407-657-4037.  Leaving a message on the answering machine is NOT acceptable for turning back a game.  You must talk to someone.

Each schedule will be posted on www.theArbiter.net, approximately 1 week prior to the 1st game on that schedule.   Regular mail will be used to for those who have not made the leap into the computer age.

Any questions or problems regarding your schedule can often be resolved by a simple email or quick phone conversation.  Unless we know, we can only assume that there isn't a problem.

When you do call the office, bear in mind that we receive dozens of phone calls a day.  Please keep it brief and to the point.  Also, please utilize common sense when you decide to call.  Friday afternoon when there are 100 games that night is probably not the best time to call about your schedule.  There is usually no one in the office on the weekends.

Tuesdays and Fridays are usually the busiest nights.  Please keep scratches on those days to a minimum, we need everyone's help those nights especially Friday night.

There are not as many tripleheaders this season.  Orange and Osceola Counties have decided to play their freshman games on Saturday morning.  Seminole will play on Wednesday night.

We do have some schools that are remote.  Harmony, South Lake, Crescent City, Tavares to name a few.  You may be asked to go to these schools.  We need everyone's help covering these schools.

Please call your referee and arrive at the schools no later than 30 minutes prior to game time.

Let's have a great season!

Kim & Henry
