CFOA Football Officials Training Class
June 1 - August 10
The Central Florida Officials Association football officials attended the 2011 Football Officials Training Class held at Lake Highland Preparatory School in Orlando. The first class started on Wednesday, June 1 and continued on every Monday and Wednesday all summer until August 10.

George Lawson
July 20, 2011
Lawson, George Allen, 66, Winter Springs, passed away July 20. George spent 43 years as a communications specialist in the space program. He was a CFOA official for 35 years and Hall of Fame member. He spent 20 years umpiring softball in the Orlando area. George served in the Air Force. George's Life Celebration was held at the Winter Springs VFW, Sunday July 24, at 2:00 pm. Please keep George's family in your prayers.

Congratulations to Horace Cannady and Gary Cahen
June 2011

Horace will be named FHSAA Basketball Official of the Year, and Gary will be named FHSAA Football Official of the Year at the leadership conference at the end of June. It's a HUGE honor for both of them, and because of their GOOD WORK they have HONORED the CFOA... Thanks and CONGRATULATIONS to Horace and Gary!

June 25, 2011

A great evening with friends was had by all that attended the CFOA 2011 Hall of Fame Banquet on June 25th at 5:00 pm at the UCF Student Union Pegasus Grand Ballroom. The following were inducted as the class of 2011: Dave Smith, Jeff Evans, Jerry Prather, Al St Pierre, CW Bill Smith, Alan Buky and Allan Whitlow. Cost was $5 per person (Hall of Fame members were free). The great tradition started with free valet auto service parking; free "wine & beer" happy hour from 5:00 - 6:00 pm; "surf & turf" entree with salad, starch, vegetable, roll, ice tea, coffee, & dessert served at 6:00 pm; plus DJ with dancing music was enjoyed after the inductions.

CFOA ANNUAL MEETING
May 14, 2011

Sue Taylor

CFOA lost one of its best members, Wife and companion to Roland for 51 years and mother to Jim, Sue will be missed by all of us. For her contributions Sue was elected to the Hall of Fame in the inauagural class. Sue Taylor took care of all of us. We love you Sue and when we get to heaven we expect you to be there to check us in. Please remember Roland and Jim in your prayers. THANK YOU SUE WE LOVE YOU AND YOU WILL BE MISSED.

Congratulations to CFOA officials Chuck Baumann, Jeff Pon, Vladimir Voyard-Tadal & Kevin Bowersox who officiated the Flag Football state championship game Saturday night at Boca Raton High School. Dr. Phillips defeated Alonso (Tampa) 27-26 in overtime. This is the third consecutive year a CFOA crew has worked the Finals.

FHSAA Hall of Fame
April 17th, 2011
CFOA Board Member and Football Assignor Don Trawick was inducted into the FHSAA Hall of Fame. He joins Dick Pace as the 2nd CFOA Member to achieve this honor. Please join us in congratulating Don and be sure to give him a call and "leave message."

Steve Burch
WINTER PARK, Fla. — Mr. Steve Lee Burch, age 69, Winter Park, Florida, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at the Courtyard Senior Living in Johnson City, TN.

Mr. Burch was born in Charlotte, NC, and son of Rosa Lee Burch, Charlotte, NC, and the late John Burch.

He was a US Air Force Veteran. Mr. Burch received a bachelor’s degree from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, and was in the class of 1960 from Harding High School in Charlotte. He retired as a Computer Software Engineer for Xerox. He was their International Liaison and Chief Software Engineer. He enjoyed traveling the world and loved to share his adventures.

In addition to his mother, survivors include a son, Eric Burch, Casselberry, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Renee & Chris Noe, Jonesborough, TN; granddaughters, Ashley Noe and Amanda Noe, both of Jonesborough, TN; ex-wife, Evelyn Burch, Johnson City, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Sue & Dick Carter, Fort Mill, SC; and an uncle, Clyde Williams, Charlotte, NC.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2011, at Chapman Memorial Baptist Church, 608 Valleydale Rd., Charlotte, NC.

The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Northeast Tennessee Chapter, 207 N. Boone Street, Suite 1500, Johnson City, TN 37604.

Bernie Baumann

CFOA Hall of Fame Member Bernie Baumann is recovering after suffering a heart attack. He is currently (as of 12/12) at Health Central on West 50 in Ocoee if you would like to visit him. Please keep him and the Baumann family in your thoughts as Bernie recovers.

Bob Sivil has been chosen to work the 2010 HBCU All Star game on 12-18-2010, at The Georgia Dome. 2pm. It includes all the Senior players from the SWAC, SIAC, MEAC, CIAA.

CFOA Officials Michael Hilton, Alex Prano, and Michael Totten were selected to officiate the NIRSA Collegiate National Flag Football Championships

FHSAA Officials Leadership Conference - June 24th, 2010
FHSAA Flag Football - June 24th, 2010
Congratulations to CFOA Crew #1 for Flag Football as they officiated the 2010 State Championship game between Seminole Ridge and Tampa Alonso. The crew consisted of Jason Carroll (R), Brian Valentine (LJ), Mike Gothelf (BJ), and Alexandra Prano (FJ). This was the 4th state championship game for the CFOA in Flag Football since 2005.

BCAA Basketball Clinic- April 28th, 2010

The Broward County Basketball Officials Association in partnership with the BCAA is hosting a State Field Clinic June 11-12 on the campus of Florida Atlantic University in conjunction with Coach Mike Jarvis' FAU Team Camp. CFOA Condolences - February 1st, 2010
The CFOA sends its thoughts to Football Assignment Officer Don Trawick, whose mother Gussie Trawick passed away. The funeral for Mrs Gussie Trawick was held on February 1st, 2010 in Enterprise, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the charity of your choice in the name of Gussie Trawick.
