Football Evaluations 2011

The following guidelines will be used when completing the CFOA Crew or Individual evaluation forms. When evaluations are being conducted they should be a fair assessment of the official’s performance, and any comments and/or feedback should be constructive in nature.

Game Rating Scale

The following numerical representations shall be used as guidelines for all game ratings for all officials for all games.

Scale below.   

  1. Official needs improvement in several areas to attain fair level of competence. Performance may have poor impact on games officiated. Written Comment Required.
  2. Official maintains average level of competence. Errors are small points, and transparent to the game being officiated. Performance ensures crew has no impact on games officiated. Written Comment Required.
  3. Official maintains above average level of competence. Performance has positive impact on games officiated.
  4. Official maintains excellent level of competence. Performance influences games for most equitable result. Adapts seamlessly as game conditions change.
  5. Official maintains superior level of competence. Performance influences crew and game to best performance and result. Is able to teach - mentor colleagues to perform better. Subject matter Expert

When evaluating areas with a total score of 20 points, a written comment is required for any scores from 1 to 8 points. This would be the equivalent of receiving a 1 or a 2 for a score.
When evaluating areas with a total score of 25 points, a written comment is required for any scores from 1 to 10 points. This would be the equivalent of receiving a 1 or a 2 for a score.
